Following a few years of mild winters in Japan, the snow falls have reached historical amounts in 2025. I had the chance to visit again one of my favorite locations in the country, Urabandai in Fukushima prefecture and have just added 2 landscape images accordingly!
Kita date photographs added
Kita dake, the second highest peak in Japan at 3,192m has been one of my favorite walking destination for nearly 20 years.
I was blessed with truly amazing light conditions this past weekend and added 2 photographs captured during this trip to our landscape page.
Enjoy!
Addition of Mitaka and Koenji Awa Odori photographs
Having had the chance to join both events the past 2 weekends, we have quickly selected the very best images among the 20,000 captured and added them to our new traditional dance page.
We were lucky enough to be able to locate excellent shooting locations this time amidst huge crowds (which required arriving many hours in advance on the spot) and that helped capture new angles.
We hope you’ll like those.
Re-organisation of dance photographs
We have decided to create separate pages for traditional Japanese dance photographs (Awa Odori, Yosakoi,…) vs ballet events that we have been focusing on more of late.
We hope you’ll enjoy the change!
Addition of Tokushima 2023 Awa Odori festival photographs
We are super excited to share some photographs we captured during the Awa Odori festival in Tokushima, the birth place of Awa Odori, only a few kms away from the village of Awa where it all started.
Enjoy!

Major update of Jee Bee Photo site
Following years of inactivity, we have decided to upload new content to the Jee Bee Photo site.
This has taken the form of several new galleries reflecting our recent work in landscape, dance, Kyoto and Japanese old things.
We sincerely hope you will like the photographs and are looking forward to your feedbacks.
The new Jee Bee photo website coming up...
After years of non maintenance of the home brewed site www.light-of-earths.com, we took the decision to change course. Instead of working on our own design, we decided to go for a packaged squarespace offering.
This will give us more time to focus on photography instead of working on HTML and javascript. Our decisions to move away from Adobe's Creative Suite following their decision to go subscription also played a role since our site was designed with their software.
This will take a few weeks for sure, but various capabilities such as native integration with social media sites (Flickr and Facebook) will make things much easier and robust.
We hope you'll like what we come up with!
